LED Screen Film: Beryl XR Powers the Filming of “La Startup”

Artixium had the pleasure of contributing to the production of the feature film “La Startup” by providing free of charge a 3 meters by 2 meters Beryl XR P2.6 LED screen, used as a central element of the scenography. This cutting-edge technology offers an immersive visual experience, thanks to high resolution and exceptional image quality, perfectly suited to the demands of virtual studio filming.

Directed by Gilles Graveleau, iconic actor from the series and film Kaamelott, La Startup marks his debut directing a feature film. The film features a prestigious cast composed of Thierry Frémont, Fred Testot, Jacques Chambon, and Serge Papagalli, in a cinematic adventure that is both original and promising.

The project is produced by Jean-Pierre Lagrange (JPL Productions) and Matière Première Productions, in co-production with Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma. Filming takes place mainly in Yzeron, in the heart of the Lyon region.

Beryl XR for Virtual Production

Artixium’s participation is also part of broader support provided by Romain Pacy, CEO of Artixium and Wellborne, a company specializing in the design of electric vehicle charging stations. Through Wellborne, he actively contributed to the film’s financing, reinforcing the group’s commitment to artistic creation and technological innovation.

Thanks to the Beryl XR P2.6 screen, the film benefits from an LED solution designed for virtual production, with a high refresh rate, fluid visual rendering, and perfect integration into the sets.

The LED Screen Film Set-Up in Detail

The LED screen film project supported the shooting of “La Startup”, the first feature film directed by Gilles Graveleau. Filming took place mainly in Yzeron, in the Lyon region.

A screen at the centre of the set. Artixium provided, free of charge, a 3 × 2 metre Beryl XR P2.6 LED screen, used as a central element of the scenography.

Designed for virtual production. Beryl XR combines high resolution, a high refresh rate and smooth rendering, so the image on the screen looks natural on camera and blends into the physical set.

A wider commitment. Through Wellborne, Romain Pacy, CEO of Artixium and Wellborne, also contributed to the financing of the film, alongside JPL Productions, Matière Première Productions and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma.

Why Choose an LED Screen for Film and Virtual Production?

On a film set, an LED screen can display a background, a landscape or a moving scene behind the actors. Unlike a green screen, the image is captured directly in camera, with realistic reflections and lighting on faces and props.

For cinema, the screen must be invisible as a technology: no flicker, no moiré, accurate colours and a pixel pitch fine enough for the camera distance. These are the qualities expected from an LED screen film set-up such as the one used on “La Startup”.
