LED display applications by market
Comparing LED display applications starts with the site’s constraints: brightness, pixel pitch, ingress protection, installation method. A stadium, a DOOH network, a broadcast studio and a railway station have different needs, and Artixium meets each of them with the same manufacturing standard. Select your sector to see suitable displays, our references and the questions to ask before investing in an LED display.

Frequently asked questions
How do you compare LED display applications?
Start from how the site is used: viewing distance, sun exposure, daily operating hours, access for maintenance. Viewing distance sets the pixel pitch. Exposure sets brightness and ingress protection. Access decides between front and rear service. Each market page applies these criteria to its own LED display applications, with matching products and references.
What is the difference between indoor and outdoor LED displays?
An outdoor LED display must stay readable in direct sunlight and handle rain, dust and temperature swings, so it needs high brightness and a sealed front. An indoor display runs at lower brightness with a finer pixel pitch, because the audience is closer. A roadside digital billboard and a retail video wall are built differently, which is why we compare LED display applications market by market.
Which pixel pitch suits which viewing distance?
The closer the audience, the finer the pitch. A common rule of thumb: the minimum viewing distance in metres is close to the pixel pitch in millimetres, so a 3 mm pitch display is comfortable from about 3 metres. Broadcast studios and control rooms need a fine pitch; a stadium display seen from a distance can use a larger one. Pitch is often the first thing that separates LED display applications.
Can one display serve several uses?
Sometimes. Rental LED panels are built to be rigged and de-rigged for concerts, trade shows and conferences, and a plug and play display can move between rooms. A display designed for a permanent outdoor installation is not made for repeated set-ups. Tell us the main use from the start: it narrows down the LED display applications that fit.
How bright should an outdoor LED display be?
In direct sunlight, an outdoor display needs several thousand nits to stay readable. Indoors, a few hundred to around a thousand nits is usually enough. Too much brightness indoors tires the eyes and wears the LEDs faster; too little outdoors and the image washes out in the afternoon. An ambient light sensor adjusts intensity between day and night, which keeps the image readable and cuts power use. We set it during the project study for each of our LED display applications.
Front or rear maintenance?
Front maintenance lets you remove modules from the face of the display. It suits displays fixed to a wall, built into a facade or installed where the back is out of reach. Rear maintenance needs technical space behind the display, often a walkway, but gives easier access to power supplies and receiving cards. Decide before the structure is designed, because it changes the footprint and the installation cost. It is one of the criteria we compare across LED display applications.
How long does an LED display last?
It is counted in tens of thousands of operating hours. It depends mainly on brightness, temperature, ventilation and the quality of the power supply. A display running non-stop at full brightness ages faster than one adjusted to ambient light. Regular maintenance (cleaning, module and connection checks) and spare parts from the same production batch keep the image uniform.
What content can an LED display show?
Content varies across LED display applications: adverts and scheduled messages for digital signage, scores and replays in a stadium, live timing on a karting track, live video in a broadcast studio or a control room. A media player or content management software schedules playback remotely. Plan visuals at the display’s real resolution, which often differs from standard formats, with text readable at the intended viewing distance.
How does an LED display project run?
We start with the site, the use and the budget, then send a technical proposal: pixel pitch, dimensions, structure, control system, content. Artixium supports you from product selection to commissioning, then with maintenance. Not sure which of our LED display applications matches your project? Describe it in the contact form and we will reply with a first recommendation.
