Connected Portal New York: IRIDIUM Links New York to Dublin
Installed in the heart of Manhattan, near the Flatiron Building, the New York Portal transforms public space into a window to other cities around the world. Thanks to the telepresence technology developed by Portal – Unity Network, passersby can interact live with people located in Dublin or elsewhere, in real size, as if they were on the other side of the street.
For this project, Artixium provided the IRIDIUM P1.9 (a range since succeeded by Silicium) LED screen, a model recognized for its high resolution, stability, and immersive visual rendering. Its ability to operate continuously, even in demanding outdoor environments, makes it an ideal choice for a public installation of this scale.

The Connected Portal New York Project in Detail
The connected portal New York project, installed in the heart of Manhattan near the Flatiron Building, turns public space into a window onto other cities. Thanks to the telepresence technology developed by Portal – Unity Network, passers-by interact live with people in Dublin or elsewhere.
A round, life-size screen. The circular 4 m² LED screen shows the people on the other side at real size, as if they were standing across the street.
A fine P1.9 pixel pitch. Artixium supplied an IRIDIUM P1.9 screen, recognised for its high resolution, stability and immersive rendering, essential for face-to-face exchanges.
Continuous outdoor operation. The screen is designed to run continuously in a demanding outdoor environment, an essential condition for a public installation of this scale.
